Assisted Web 2.0 Suicide

There is a certain friend who has resisted this whole Social Networking thing like the plague.  He values his privacy very highly, he would rather not deal with all the potential for having his information used by marketers and malicious individuals.  But I also think he’s pretty good at keeping contact with those who are important in his world, whether they be near or far, unlike some of the rest of us.

This friend was incredibly amused by this article about a new service which allows you to systematically remove your  presence from Web 2.0 sites like Facebook and Twitter.  Do you suppose we’ll be seeing lawsuits in the future, stemming from people who were removed from Facebook without their knowledge?  Facebook seems to be envisioning this possible outcome already.   Or that if too many people commit social seppuku, that it might cut into their profitability…
